Once again, TU Dresden has been able to prove the quality of its research: Nine researchers working directly at TUD and two researchers stating TUD as their second affiliation are among the world's most cited researchers. This year, there are 6,849 researchers on the list of “Highly Cited Researchers” (HCR). Based on the number of citations, they are the world’s most influential researchers. Amongst these, 336 are researchers working in Germany. With eleven researchers entering the list, TUD is again one of the most highly represented institutions worldwide. Only 238 researchers worldwide are listed as “Highly Cited” in two different subject areas – including Prof. Xinliang Feng from TU Dresden in the fields of chemistry and materials science. Four researchers from this list are connected to cfaed (members and Associated Members).

A newly funded ERC Synergy proposal unveils a groundbreaking bio-inspired vision for future smart wireless multimodal sensory systems.
The European Research Council has announced today that the project SWIMS, Stochastic Spiking Wireless Multimodal Sensory Systems, will be funded at EUR 13.5 million under the Synergy program. The project proposes a veritable paradigm shift in the architecture, design, and hardware of future smart wireless multimodal sensory systems. The project is made possible by the synergistic efforts of four distinguished scientific leaders: Professor Gerhard P. Fettweis (TU Dresden), Professor Denis Flandre (UC Louvain), Professor Adrian Ionescu (EPFL), and Professor Elisabetta Chicca (Uni Groningen).

Forschungslabore Mikroelektronik Deutschland – Early-career talents for integrated electronics

Press release 7 September 2023 - ForLab follow-up project launched with an inaugural event

Published on Thu, 07 Sep 2023 in PRESS RELEASES

In research-intensive microelectronics, universities play a pivotal role in the fast-paced innovation race. They unlock new knowledge, are essential research partners for industry – and, last but not least, educate the next generation of scientists. In order to facilitate research at the highest international level on new fields for the microelectronics of the future at universities and to create the best training conditions for young scientists, twelve "Forschungslabore Mikroelektronik Deutschland (ForLab)" have been established at 14 universities since 2019. The modernization and expansion of the necessary research equipment was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). This was accompanied by the creation of a network between the research labs with a joint external presentation of microelectronics research in Germany.

This network is now being developed and expanded into a nationwide and internationally visible university network for semiconductor technology and microelectronics. The follow-up project “ForLab NataliE” (“Nachwuchstalente für die integrierte Elektronik” - early-career talents for integrated electronics) was launched in August 2023 with an opening event.

Invitation to the kick-off event on July 19 (online)

Where is shared mobility particularly useful and how can we ensure it is sustainable? A new research project has been running at the Chair of Network Dynamics at TU Dresden since July 1, 2023. Ridepooling models developed at the chair are now to be applied nationwide. The researchers are developing a "potential map" of different regions in order to obtain an overview of the applicability of this new type of transport service. The "Where2Share" project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport as part of the mFUND innovation initiative over the period July 2023 to December 2024 with a total of almost 193,000 euros.

European Research Council awards nearly two million euros for enginneering perovskite materials for (opto)electronics

Physicist and Electrical Engineer Prof. Dr Yana Vaynzof has received a highly endowed ERC Consolidator Grant for excellent young researchers from the European Research Council (ERC). The funds will be used to support a research project in the field of metal halide perovskite materials. The overall aim of the project is the development of novel engineering approaches to control the properties of these materials and their application in electronic and optoelectronic devices. The ERC will provide approximately two million euros in funding for a five-year period. Yana Vaynzof is the Chair for Emerging Electronic Technologies at the TU Dresden and the Director of the Institute for Emerging Electronic Technologies at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW). She was already awarded an ERC Starting Grant in 2017.
